Location
Hinxton is a village located 14 miles (22.53 kilometres) south of Cambridge and 5 miles (8.05 kilometres) north-west of Saffron Walden, with convenient access to the M11, A11, and A505.
Village Information
Hinxton is home to several notable buildings; Hinxton Hall, an 18th-century red brick building, set in a 95-acre estate on the banks of the River Cam, currently occupied by the Welcome Trust Genome Campus. Built over River Cam Hinxton Watermill was previously used for grinding corn, now owned by Cambridge Past, Present and Future it is open to visitors on various days throughout the year.
Hinxton Village Hall is an attractive Victorian building which has undergone recent updated and lies in the centre of the village next to the recreation ground.
Facilities
There is a public house, the multi-award-winning Red Lion Inn, a Grade II listed 16th century building with bed & breakfast accommodation.
Primary schooling is provided by Duxford Primary School located 1.5 miles (2.41 kilometres) away and rated Good by Ofsted. Secondary schooling is provided by Sawston Village College, located 4 miles (6.44 kilometres) away and rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
