Location
The small village of Bourn is located within 8 miles (12.87 kilometres) of Cambridge city centre and is surrounded by several villages including Caxton, Eltisley and Cambourne. Bourn is located 12 miles (19.31 kilometres) from Royston railway station which provides a mainline to London King’s Cross and Cambridge. Royston also provides many larger shops such as Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi as well as some excellent restaurants and public houses which are located in the town centre. The village is also well-placed for many main roads such as the A505, A428, A14 and the A1.
Village Information
The village offers many amenities such as a post office/village shop, butcher, golf club, Church of England Primary School and a windmill, which is thought to be one of the oldest windmills in the country dating back to at least 1636. Bourn is also home to Bourn Hall Clinic which was founded in 1980 and is a world-famous clinic for treating and helping those with infertility.
Facilities
The primary school is located at the edge of the village, adjacent to many open fields and in walking distance to most of the properties in the village. This primary school serves other surrounding villages such as Caxton, Longstowe and Kingston. Bourn falls into the catchment area of the well regarded secondary school at Comberton Village College.
