Location
Fen Ditton is a village on the north-east edge of Cambridge and is 11 miles (17.7 kilometres) west of Newmarket, just off the A14.
Village Information
Fen Ditton is a popular village for commuters into Cambridge and has a number of rural pathways giving cycling and pedestrian access into the city and also hosts the annual Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival.
In between the village and the river Cam lies Ditton Meadows, a beautiful park providing a space for jogging or dog walking.
There is a primary school in the village, rated good by Ofsted, with secondary schooling provided by Bottisham Village College, rated outstanding. The Cambridge North Academy secondary school is just over 2 miles (3.22 kilometres) away which is rated good.
Facilities
There is a recreation ground located on Church Street which has facilities including a pavilion, cricket pitch, several football pitches, a basketball court and a children's play area in addition to plenty of grasslands which are used for annual firework displays. There is an art gallery and three pubs, The Ancient Shepherds which is a pub and restaurant, formerly three cottages, with a beer garden and B&B accommodation. The Plough which was a former paper mill and coaching inn, situated on the river banks and The Kings Head, a traditional two bar pub with a large beer garden located opposite the church.
